Pharma companies rely too heavily on lab and animal results to decide which drugs to develop. They discard promising alternatives before learning how they work in people. At AEON, we keep multiple promising drug candidates in development and use human experiments to learn which work best and how to improve them. To test those candidates in people earlier, we need to identify and reduce catastrophic toxicity risks—drug effects that can kill people or cause permanent damage. We use many-body quantum physics, machine learning, and targeted experiments to understand why past drugs caused severe harm. We’re building models from those findings to predict risks in new molecules and help design safer drugs. We want to spend less on drugs that only look promising in the lab—and more on drugs that work in people.

AEON: Less Wrong Drugs
AEON develops drug candidates through early clinical trials outside the U.S. We use those results to select and improve drugs, building evidence of efficacy and safety for further development or licensing. We’re currently exploring drug programs for non-opioid pain relief.
